How to calculate IELTS Writing Band Scores?
This process is a bit more complex than the former one, as you already read above about the 4 sections of the reading module on which your band scores depend.
The Right way to calculate the reading band score is by adding all scores of individual sections then dividing by 4.
You know that IELTS Band Scores are always in 5, 5.5 / 6, 6.5 / 7, 7.5 sequences.
The number you will get after dividing can be 5.12 or 5.62 then how get the right band?
Simply follow this rule, if your number after division is closer to any nearest sequence of IELTS bands then that band score is your final.
For example:
Abc got: GR-5.5, CC-6, LR-5, TR-6
5.5+6+5+6= 22.5 then divide by 4 = 5.625
Now, he will get a 5.5 Band because 5.62 is more closer to 5.5 than 6 or 5.
Xyz got: GR-7, CC-6, LR-5, TR-6
8+6+7+6= 27 then divide by 4 = 6.75
Now, he will get 7 Band, not 6.5, If you get exactly the middle number like this then choose a higher side band and it is the same for 6.25 number, you will get 6.5 as 6.5 is higher than 6.25 and close to it.
QPR got: GR-5.5, CC-4, LR-5, TR-6
5.5+4+5+6 = 20.5 then divide by 4 = 5.12
Now, he will get 5 Band, because 5 is more closer than 5.5.
